Thank you for the inquiry. The location varies from vehicle to vehicle but most commonly it will be on the engine block itself, there should be a provision this goes into with the electrical harness that attaches to it.

I have a 1999 Ranger XLT 3.0L, my temp. sensor was on and around thermostat housing area in front of intake manifold. I broke one when repairing engine for blown cylinder head gasket, my engine has two temp. sensors, one for temp. gauge and other I believed for computer input? I'm a marine technician and try to do as much as possible on my own within my ability. Hope this information is helpful to you.
