Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks!
In this video we're going to be working with our 2001 Ford Ranger, 4.0-liter V6. We're going to be changing out the rear ABS sensor. This information is the same from 1990 to 2007.
If you like this video, please click subscribe. We have a ton more information on this truck as well as many other makes and models. If you want this part for your vehicle, you can follow the link in the description to 1AAuto.com.
Here are the items you'll need for this repair: flat blade screwdriver, 10mm socket, and a ratchet.
The rear ABS sensor is located in the top of the rear differential on our truck. You may be able to access this from the ground, but we've raised and supported our vehicle to make it easier to show you. You'll have to remove a 10 millimeter bolt at the top of the sensor. Once the bolt is out, you'll want to use a small, flat blade screwdriver or a small pry bar to pry the sensor out of the differential housing. Lift up, and push the connector off of the sensor.
Here we have the old, rear ABS sensor that we removed from our 2001 ranger and our new part available from 1AAuto.com. As you can see, these parts are exactly the same. Our old part, where it is a magnetic sensor, does have some metal shavings from the differential stuck to it, and that's to be expected.
If these sensors go bad, it will turn your ABS light on, and cause a malfunction of the ABS brakes. It will show as "no wheel speed signal coming from the rear end of your vehicle". If you're having an ABS issue that you've narrowed down to your rear ABS sensor, this new part from 1A Auto is going to go in direct fit just like your original equipment and fix you up right.
Reinstall the ABS sensor into the differential, and be sure that it sits down wholly. Line up and tighten down the 10 millimeter bolt at the top. Reconnect the electrical connector.
Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helped you out. Next time you need parts for your car, please visit 1AAuto.com. Also check out our other helpful how-to and diagnosis videos.

This ABS sensor is our DIY Solutions brand sensor, and the one currently listed for $44.95 is a genuine Ford Motorcraft part. Both come with the same lifetime warranty and will fit and function just like your original.
