It is powered. You drill out the fasteners and utilize the rivets to secure back into place. I pulled the door mounting panel back a bit to make room for the removal in installation. There is a video on YouTube that will show you how to replace.
yes the plate on the bottom can be moved or turned to either side.
I don't use the rivets but mine had screws in the original and I use them.
