Yes you can. The key mechanism must be broken in a manner that allows you to use a flathead screwdriver to turn it. Much like a car thief would do on the older cars to start them.
my ignition switch was wore out so as i could not turn it to any position without some considerable jiggling of the key. my new lock cyclinder and key work well but i still need my old key to unlock vehicle.
