Key lock cylinder/Wow

This is the cats meow for a fix on my GMC Truck 1999 2500. The key lock was stuck and I had to bang on the key lock to get it to turn and even then on start the thing would just click and the starter would not engage. I changed out the starter and still no remedy. Then I changed out the key lock and now the truck starts and runs like new. You folks are great. Thanks for the fix.

Will this ignition switch set need to have the relearn done for the VATS security system?

If when installed and it doesn't start the vehicle , then a relearn procedure has to be performed. Gogle relearn procedure for the year and make of the vehicle

Can I remove the ign. Cylinder withOUT the key in it?????? Everything says key in, turn to start, push in pin & slide cylinder out. What if YOU DON’T HAVE THE KEY????

Yes you can. The key mechanism must be broken in a manner that allows you to use a flathead screwdriver to turn it. Much like a car thief would do on the older cars to start them.

My lock cylinder was removed since someone tried to steal my truck. I am replacing it with this one that comes with a key. Will i need to program it ? Or is there anything else needed to be done once i install it ?
