Hello Dale, You do not have to disconnect your batter to install the variable valve timing solenoids. Just make sure the car is off and the key is out of the ignition.
The seal will be located on the engine, not on the item itself. We would suggest checking the seal to see if it needs to be replaced.
Some autos are different and use different, but these I believe are the same because the exhaust has 4 camshafts on this engine. Engines with 4 cams uses 4 same actuators. But check the particular engine before final judgement.
