Hi, I'm Don from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and the next time you need a part for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the washer pump on this 2004 Volkswagen Jetta. The items you'll need include a new washer pump from 1AAuto.com, a drip pan, and a flat blade screwdriver.
On the left is the old washer pump from this vehicle, and on the right is the new one from 1aauto. You can see they are very similar, and they will fit exactly the same. Don is going to show you the best way to replace them. If your washer pump has failed, chances are you've still got some washer fluid in your washer reservoir here.
What we're going to do is try to swap out this pump as best as we can so we don't lose any fluid. We're going to start by having a catch pan down here (drip pan). Then we're going to have our new part handy and ready to go.
I'm going to start by prying this connector loose. Basically, get a flat blade in there and pry up until it clicks. Pull it up. All right, now you can see down here where the water hose is attached. Use a screwdriver long flat blade and pry that off and you can see a little fluid just came out. All right, I've got my finger over it. I'm going to pull the washer pump up.
Remember, I've got my new one right here. Okay, that's up and out. Okay, I'm going to go back in with the new one. Reconnect the hose. Reconnect my connector. Hopefully, I haven't lost too much fluid. Just a little bit came out. and whatever you've got dispose of safely.
