This starter works and my 2000 V70 is up and running again which I'm happy about. Only did a test start so far and I could immediately tell a difference in cranking speed (the new one is faster). So this starter is not exactly like the one that I pulled from my car, which is was likely the original 25 year old starter. The wiring does hook up and the 2 14mm bolts lineup perfect, however the body of the starter is about 10mm longer than the body of the original starter, so the bracket for the 12mm bolt on the engine block no longer lines up and right now my starter is secured only with the 2 14mms and the guide pin. For clarity, I can mount the bracket to the starter (mind you, I had to go out and buy 2 M5 0.80 pitch 8mm flange nuts because the studs at the end of the starter are different from the original one, and it didn't come with new fasteners), just not able to then mount the bracket to the engine block because the bracket would stick out 10mm too far.
