Hey, I'm Brian, I'm here to give you guys a little tutorial on some window regulators. The specific design is the scissor design. We actually get a lot of calls on these products here and the common question is: The part I received seems different than the part in my vehicle.
The scissor design actually has a flip design and we're actually going to show you how to fix this here. The most common thing that you want to do, or the first step you want to do is lay the parts out side by side. Try not to match them up in the car because this can get confusing. Take it out, lay them side by side, and what you actually see here is a same exact part for the same model vehicle in the same door. As the appearance shows here, they seem to be mirrored.
If you look down at the bottom here, we have the power window motor. This is the piece that is actually powered to lift and lower your glass. The next section down here is . you actually have your gear drive. Here's your mounting plates on both. As you can see, it's identical. You have your tension spring here. If you notice on the upper section here, it's kind of reversed. You're going to think normally, I get the wrong side door. You're going to give us a call and you want to express that to one of our customer service reps. I'm going to show you how to fix this.
Basically, pick this up by the base and you want to scissor or flip. This is how you're going to fix the issue. It's going to actually match the component as shown there. You can now see that both of these components here are the same part and you're ready for installation.

In this video, we're going to show you how to reset the auto pinch feature on this 2005 Toyota Camry. This basically involves removing the window regulator and window motor. The tools you'll need are a Phillips and regular screwdrivers, as well as a 10mm socket and ratchet and a T25 Torx driver.
To remove the door panel, first you're going to remove a series of screws. There's one in behind here and you'll see me pry that out. Underneath here, you can pry this rubber up and there's a screw under there. Pry off this little grommet and there's a screw under there and then there's two screws at the bottom, one there and one there. Use your screwdriver. Put it in the back corner and pry it up and out on that rubber piece. Up here, you put it right in the back there and this plastic piece should come out and then this piece should just pry right off. We'll just speed it up here a little bit as I remove those three screws, the one up there, the one in behind the door handle and the one down on the door pull. Pull up and off. Your mirror has a little tab, you push on with your thumb and pull out. There's a tab right here. Push on it with your thumb and pull out. You want to make sure you reset this connector by pulling it all the way back. Fast forward here, again, as I remove those two lower screws. Now that you've removed this panel, you're going to see a Phillips screw right down in here. Remove that. Now you can just grab the bottom of your panel. You need to pull this little triangle right out here and pull your panel up and off. Now, reach in behind here and you can pull your cables out and up and your panel comes off. Now, carefully remove your water shield. You want to avoid tearing it. I'm going to tear it right up and around the harness, there so I can pull it off. Now you're going to press a little tab on the side of your speaker lead and pull it up and out and then remove four 10mm screws and remove your speaker and set it aside.
Now, your window regulator connects to your window with two bolts, you want to loosen that bolt and then loosen this bolt. Then the window regulator is held to the door by four bolts here. Then, right here, is your lead. There's a little tab. I think you can see it. My finger's pressing in on it. My finger's pressing on it, and pulling out. If your vehicle is equipped with the auto pinch sensor then once you disconnect that window motor you will need to reset that feature and I have another video, just check our videos for Toyota Camry auto pinch sensor reset. You can tell if you have the auto pinch if you run your window up, press down on it while it's going up and it stops and goes back down. For this one down, I'm going to use a 10mm wrench. Now I can lift the window up. I used some painter's tape just as a precaution to keep that window up. We'll hit a little fast forward, as, right now, all I'm doing is using a 10mm socket and ratchet on those four bolts that are in a square. At the top left one, you just need to loosen it; you don't have to pull it all the way out. Then, I'm removing the other two bolts that hold the track and, then, as you can see a little bit later, once you remove the last bolt, the regulator falls down. There's your regulator out.
If you want to change your window motor, first, you need to release this balance spring, which you should be able to just grab hold of with nice big pair of pliers and let it go. Now, on the back side, there are three T25 Torx screws. I'm just going to fast forward through removing those three screws.
Now with the motor separate from the regulator, you want to go back to the vehicle. Turn your key on and now this is an electric motor so a couple of things, this section can get hot when it runs and then you don't want to get any hair or anything caught up in there. So, be very careful of both of those spots. Connect your motor and it's probably best to hold it just like this and before you do anything just practice connecting it and disconnecting it. What you'll want to do is with the key on, go to your switch and let the motor run for about four seconds: one, two, three, four. Then, disconnect it. Something very important I forgot to mention there is you do want to be running your motor up for the four seconds. You want to press your button up.
What you want to do know is you take this whole bracket and you swing it around and then you put the balancing spring into place. Now, you swing the bracket back around, about the middle is good enough, and put the motor down. When you got the motor in, keep it squeezed, start one of your bolts, and start another one. Tighten them up.
I'm going to fast forward through installing the window regulator. If you want to see this in regular speed, just check out our other video for window regulator replacement in the Camry. Do stay tuned because there's another step. You need to run the window properly in order to make sure you train the motor on where the stops are.
With your regulator all back in, turn your key on again and you don't want to use your auto feature, you just want to press lightly up and run it. You want to plug it in first and run the window up, just using manual and run it down using manual. Now repeat this three times. Now you do the auto and you are all set.

Tools you'll need are a flat blade screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver and a 10mm socket and ratchet with extension and maybe some painters tape to hold up the window. To remove the door panel first you're going to remove a series of screws. There's one in behind here and you'll see me pry that out, underneath here you can pry this rubber up and there's a screw under there. You can tell if you have the auto pinch if you run your window up, press down on it while it's going up and it stops and goes back down. For this window here I'll use a 10mm wrench. Lift the window up. I use some painters tape just as a precaution to keep that window up. We'll hit a little fast forward as right now all I'm doing is using a 10mm socket and ratchet on those four bolts that are in a square. The top left one you just need to loosen, you don't have to pull it all the way out and then I'm removing the other two bolts that hold the track and then as you can see a little bit later once you remove the last bolt the regulator kind of falls down.
There's your regulator out, new regulator from 1A Auto. Only difference on this regulator is that there is a harness with a lead on it. Put it up in, do what to put just this one bolt and start that in right there. Then there's that bolt. I'm just going to start the other four bolts or the other three bolts that hold the regulator to the door. Now I'll start the two bolts that hold that track in place. Once everything's pretty much in place I'll go around with my 10mm socket and ratchet and make sure all six bolts that hold the regulator to that door are nice and tight. Now that that's in I'm just taking the tape off the window up here. Let the window slide down slowly; push it back in its track. I'm sure this goes right down in; make sure the front comes in as well. Pull my lead through here. Okay with a successful test we can unplug our window and mirror switch and then put our water shield back on and then reinstall the door panel. Put your cable in, snap it in. The green one goes on the bottom, the clear one goes on top and pull your harness is through. Then the propel up and then down the sill make sure our harness is in through. That all goes in, our large screw.
Okay and just fast forward here again as I tighten up that large screw that holds that armrest brace and then the two screws up top behind the door panel in the corner and then the two screws on the bottom of the door panel. Now our switch panel, make sure you've pulled that back, snap it right in. Mirror snaps right in, the front down first punch it forward and down and then screw. Little rubber and then up here on this corner panel you want to pull this, if this clip didn't come off with your trim panel take it off. Squeeze it down as much as you can and it clips on right here to the panel. It looks like it's on backwards, the less bend end goes into the panel and this goes in, okay it snaps on.

This part was installed a few years ago and it fit perfect and still works amazingly. Happy I got it for my Toyota Camry 2003
Excellent service with attention to detail
Once I received the correct part for the driver's window, I was very pleased with the quality and operation of the device.
On the bottom rail that holds the window, the original had a round metal stub that a screw went through to hold the window in place. This replacement did not. I had to salvage this piece from the old one. Luckily it worked. If I did not have the old one to salvage, I would have returned this one. Other than that it works fine. But that is a BIG other than that !
Arrived within 4 days, standard shipping. Packaged well, worked as advertised.
The regulator is well made. However the metal bar to which the two tabs on the glass is attached had to be swapped with the one that was on the original regulator because the two screws that attach the glass to the bar screw into nuts that are welded to the bar. The replacement has a bar that does not have those welded nuts and thus requires separate nuts that did not come with the new regulator. Also, it would have been difficult to get a nut behind the glass's tab the way the new one is designed. Fortunately, the two bars swapped out easily.
The item arrived quickly and it was packaged very well. I used the A1 Auto installation video and the project was completed in a short period of time. The window regulator is working as it should. The videos are priceless. I have ordered several items from A1 Auto over the years and always appreciate the videos. I highly recommend this item as a replacement as well as A1 Auto as your source for parts.

Hello Reed, For this application the Anti Pinch feature only came on models with the Auto up feature. The Auto up feature works by pulling the switch, letting it go and the window goes up on its own. If you need to hold the switch to roll the window up, you do not have auto up and do not have the anti pinch feature.
This will fit any 2002-2006 Camry without anti-pinch windows.
Thank you for your question. That is information that should be on your build sheet, or you can check the number of wires your window motor has. Models with anti-pinch windows will have about 6 wires total.
