You do have to press out the bearing. With the right tools you can leave the hub on the car. I used a kit I found on Amazon and some other tools I got on loan from Auto Zone. I have a 2005 Subaru Forester I'm looking for a front hub assembly with the knuckle if he say got from a shop has a seal bearing in it the one I took off the car has two bearings an inner an outer bearing what is the difference?

If you have the 1ASHS01025 kit, it should have both seals. They look very similar but have slight differences. The plastic bags labeled: 1AAXX00084 will be the OUTER seal (the side that is toward the wheel hub, see Subaru Part# 28015AA0708A for reference). 1AAXX00083 is the INNER seal (the side that is towards the axle, see Subaru part# 28015AA080 for reference). These fit perfectly on my 2002 legacy wagon with abs brakes, not sure if they are the same though.

This says it fits 2005 Forester but my Forester has tapered bearings, will these fit original knuckle or do I need a different one for these to work?

This fit my 2003 Baja. The area where it fits into the knuckle is straight and the area that fits onto the shaft is straight. Both had to be press fit on. The bearing splits in half and the bearing races are tapered. Hope this helps.

I can't really complain. Everything came as indicated and was in perfect order. Only issue I have is that the seals weren't clearly denoted as to being inner or outer. The inner is usually very obvious with a big lip that cups the drive axle. This one was much more subtle. The other issue is that the bearings are ball and not needle. (meaning really cheap) You can't separate them to press the bearing halves individually, which means you have to press it as a unit putting pressure on the balls. We'll see how long they last....

The seals they give you aren't correct. Other than that great product. The inner seal doesn't fit and doesn't have a wide lip like the oem.

Quality components and no more noise. Like others have mentioned, seals are a bit different from OEM (inner one notably as this kit contains 2 pairs of nearly identical seals)), but you'll figure it out...basically both are snug when hand fitting on outer, but only one is snug when hand fitting on inner - put snug one on inner, other on outer. Overall, a beast of a job, good luck!

This is a good kit although i dont recommend this job if you do not have a shop press for bearings. 1A auto has become the place i buy parts from over autozone or o reiley auto. They have similiar qaulity to brands like Duralast but usually for a few bucks cheaper.
