This video is brought to you by www.1AAuto.com; your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. Hi, my name's Mike Green. I want to help you save time and money repairing your vehicle. I have 20+ years experience restoring and repairing cars and trucks. My company, 1A Auto sells high quality replacement parts over the internet. In this video I'll be showing you how to install these parts. By the end of this video you'll know how to install them and where to get them. That's going to save you time and money. Thank you and enjoy the video.
In this video we're going to replace the parker and side marker light on a 1998 Grand Cherokee, basically the same as any '93 to '98 Grand Cherokee. Pretty easy, it only requires a #2 Torx screwdriver.
We start by replacing the side marker, the upper one. There's a small screw shown here between the marker and the parking light that you'll have to remove, which I'll start doing in a second here. Take my #2 Torx screwdriver and insert it in between there. You'll notice I have the headlight out. This is designed so you don't have to pull the headlight out. I did have the headlights out of this vehicle for another project. Again, you don't have to have the headlight out. I'm removing that screw and then this signal light has another screw to remove; it's held in by two. I'll finish removing the lower one. This is pretty much real time so it doesn't take too long to service these things. That's out. Now just below that marker there are two more screws which I'm going to take out now. It's again #2 Torx screws that hold the turn signal in place. I'm removing that one and then there's another one a little further forward that I'll remove. Then once those are out there's a little tab near the grill and then the lights out.
You can unplug the bulbs and plug them back in. You need to service the bulb or replace the whole marker. I'm sorry, replace the whole signal light and then you can see the bulbs twist out. You're going to want to use yellow bulbs, or yellow on the That one, I think that one might be clear, there's also an orange bulb.
Obviously to put it back in just reverse the procedure. Put the bulb in and twist and the smaller bulb in and twist. Then you put the tab into the grill and put it in place. Then again, two #2 Torx screws, then you tighten those up. They don't have to be incredibly tight, they're just plastic so hand tight, not too much. Then put the other one in. Then we will switch back over to the other side to show you how to replace the side marker. The reason I didn't see it on this side is because that side marker was broken already when I pulled it out. We're putting in that second screw. Now we're going to replace that side marker. Obviously you can pull the bulb out of that, again an orange bulb, just twist. Notice I didn't take that screw out of that light. Put your screwdriver into it and then use that to guide it into place. Then start that screw. Start the top screw in and tighten it up. One more time, you don't need to remove the headlights to do this. These are designed so that you can do it without removing the headlights. Again, I had the headlights out of this car for another project. Tighten up both of those screws and you're pretty much done.
