Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this how-to video helps you out, and next time you need parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks.
In this video, we're going to show you how to remove the steering wheel mounted volume control switch in this 2008 Dodge Ram 1500.
The items you'll need include a new volume switch from 1AAuto.com, as well as a small flat blade screwdriver, and some tape to cover the end. The steering wheel mounted volume control is located on the back of your steering wheel on the passenger's side, over here, where your ignition cylinder and gear select are.
Now it's very likely that this switch is going to break when we remove it from the steering wheel, but that's okay, because we're going to be replacing it after it comes out. Stick a small screwdriver behind the backing. If you feel around in there, there's a little tab. You'll want to push down on that tab, and pry out at the same time. Push down on these tabs, and remove the rest of the switch from the back of the steering wheel. Push down on this tab here. You may need a small flat blade to use to pry it out, to push down on this, and remove it from the switch.
Here we have our old switch that we removed from our truck, and our new part from 1AAuto.com. As you can see, these items are exactly the same. They have the same mounting tabs on the back, same two pin connector, same size and shape on the bezel.
These can become cracked or damaged during an airbag deployment, or possibly they've just failed internally. This part is going to pop right in, get that function working for you again. Reconnect the electrical connector. Angle the top of your switch in first. Pop in the bottom.
Thanks for tuning in. We hope this video helped you out. Next time you need parts for your car, please visit 1AAuto.com. Also check out our other helpful how-to and diagnosis videos.

I couldn't get a response from my Dodge dealership, when they returned my truck with these broken.
So, I fixed it myself, cheaper then driving my truck back to the Dodge Dealership, and arguing with a service manager.
They were very easy to install, and less agitating then not having phone calls returned.
