If you only replace the ignition switch, as I did, you do not need to mess with the key question. Your current keys are matched to the SKIM (Security Key Ignition Module) that looks for the correct key before telling the PCM (main computer) it's okay to start. Your key has to match the SKIM and the SKIM has to be programmed in the PCM. Thus, don't replace the key tumbler unless it is bad so the original key and SKIM will still be matched to the PCM. The ignition switch has parts that are prone to breakage so it is all I needed to replace.
