Bolt holes are out of alignment. Heat shield must be cut & bent to accommodate intake manifold. Flange hole threads are unusable, must be drilled & tapped for Helicoils. Not a drop-in replacement for OEM manifold, pipe must be modified. Expect to spend an extra $200-300 on installation labor.
Bolt holes are off, flanges are tapped wrong, heat shield doesnt fit. The adjustments to make this thing work added at least $200 to the repair. Youre better off spending the extra money for a better product.
Bolt flanges not machined to proper depth. Barely enough bolt head to hold intake on at same time. Manifold cracked again after 1 month. Would not buy this again.
This product is as other reviews have mentioned. It does not fit right without modifications. The top hole needs to be drilled out to line up with the shield. The side bolts holes are too thick and do not sit flush when mounted therefore must be ground down a ways. I had to take off about a half an inch to make it work efficiently. After all is said and done, the jeep is quieter, tho I didnt notice any gains in power at all.
It works and fits fine without the thermal shield. The thermal shield was too big to fit in with the intake manifold.
As the title states, the manifold is thicker than the stock one, on the plate specifically where it bolts to the head. The issue is that the intake is now to thin (bolts on with the manifold). The heat shield was also in the way of one of the bolt holes and had to be modified. I'll figure out a way to make it work. The manifold looks to be good quality, despite the flaws.
The manifold arrived quickly. It was a good fit, however some modification to the heat shield was necessary to install the top center bolt and to clear the motor mount. This was frustrating as it had to be removed twice. Jeep is very quiet now.
Much heavier and robust than the factory manifold that was on my TJ. Bolting surfaces are about an 1/8" thicker which causes an issues where exhaust manifold and intake manifold share bolts. Easily remedied by spot facing these areas with a mill or small grinder (dremel, die grinder, etc)
I purchased the exhaust manifold from 1A for about half what it was at the "parts house". I personally did not install it I had a mechanic do it. He didnt have any complaints adout the install and as far as i can tell it works great no leaks. I would recommend this item to anyone. It was also shipped and delivered in a very timely manner.
New hardware is not included with this item except what is shown in the photos. You may be able to reuse your original hardware if it is in good condition.
