1989 Jeep Wagoneer Rear Passenger Side Exterior Door Handle TRQ DHA69285

I purchased this replacement handle for the rear passenger door of a 1996 Jeep Cherokee XJ. The old handle was wore out and the button would push in all the way and stick, but the door wouldn't open. I had to take the plastic tab that locks the rod in place and reverse it for my vehicle, not sure if that was due to previous modification to my vehicle, or a universal tab that is intended to be swapped around for Driver side or Passenger side, but anyhow it works great. The door opens like it's brand new, I couldn't be happier...I was concerned that I might have to replace all the guts as the vehicle is 25yrs old, and there's a lot of slop in the mechanism, but this fixed my problem. Looking at it after the install, it looks like all the other handles on the jeep, can't tell it's not factory original.

I was excited about receiving the product and it was exactly what I needed. I opened the package gave it a good look over and proceeded to install it. Tore out the door panel took off the old handle and put next to the new handle that I purchased. The handle was a match but the internall parts didnt match up so needless to say I was disappointed. I was getting ready to send back until I noticed that I could use the old internal part from the old handle which was the original part from 1996. Took out the old handle internal part installed it on the new handle and it worked out perfectly. Not sure how the old internal part will last but hopefully I will not have to change it out again.
