In this video we show you how to replace your transmission fluid pan on this 2000 Nissan Altima. It's the same part and process on these vehicles from 1993 to 2001. The items you'll need are a new transmission pan from 1AAuto.com. A 10mm and 19mm socket and ratchet with an extension. A drip pan, a torque wrench, a rag, RTV, jack and jack stands and 4 to 6 bottles of transmission fluid. Your transmission fluid pan is located under the driver's side right here. You're going to want to start off by removing the 19mm drain plug bolt. Make sure you have a drip pan underneath it to collect all the transmission fluid. Once the fluid's finished draining replace your drain plug and tighten it up. Around your drain pan you'll see there's a series of 10mm bolts all the way around and you're going to need to remove all of them. We'll fast forward as Don does this. Make sure your drain pan is still underneath this because there is more transmission fluid in there. When you remove the last bolt lower it down and let that drain.
Using a screwdriver pry up these magnets. You want to clean them off. We'll fast forward as Don does this. On the right is the old transmission fluid pan. On the left is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they are identical. They'll mount up exactly the same. Put those magnets onto the bumps on the new transmission fluid pan. Now using RTV make a gasket all the way around. You want to make sure there are no gaps so that this will seal up properly. You also don't want to overdo it so that it will get into the pan itself.
Clean off the area. Then place your new transmission pan up into place with a bolt already in the socket ready to go. You can just tighten it in by hand. Then do the same for the rest of the bolts. Then go back around and tighten them all up. Next torque each of those bolts to six foot pounds and torque that drain plug bolt as well. Remove your transmission fluid dipstick. You want to replace your transmission fluid. We recommend doing four bottles and then checking and then adding a couple more maybe. It all depends on how much drained out. Start your vehicle. Now pull up the dipstick, wipe it clean and put it back. Pull it up, check it, you might be all set. Put it back and you're all set.
