Here are the items you'll need for this repair: Phillips screwdriver
Using the Phillips head screwdriver, remove the two screws from your license plate light. Once the screws are out, move the license plate light around and remove it through the hole, quarter turn counter clockwise or release the bulb socket and your plate light.
Now whether you're replacing your lens or just the bulb, this process is going to be the same only we'll now pop our old burned out bulb out of the socket and install a nice new one.
Here we have our old license plate light lens that we removed from our vehicle and our new part from 1AAuto.com. The difference here is pretty clear. You can see our old ones full of all kinds of dirt and debris. It's cloudy, it's difficult to see out of. The threads inside of the plastic tubes here have been completely stripped out from removing the rusted hardware. Our vehicle was painted at some point in its life, and these were clearly not masked very well. Pretty obvious difference how much more light is going to come through this. You could probably get pulled over for having something like this on there because you're not displaying your plate blatantly enough. If your old license plate light lenses have become dirty, clouded, cracked, broken or missing, we do have one missing from our vehicle, these new parts from 1A Auto go and direct fit just like your original equipment. We'll get your license plates lit up bright, safe and legal and fix you up right.
Reinstall the plate light. You can actually see how that little twist lock works now because it's clear, quarter turn clockwise and our bulb is secured. Slide the housing back up into the bumper, line up our screw holes and reinstall our two Phillips head screws. Once your plate light is secured down, you can repeat these steps on the opposite side, if necessary.
