In this video where going to show you how to remove a front door panel on 2005 Cobalt 4-door and this vehicle does have the manual windows and locks. Tools you'll need are a flat blade screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, and a window crank removal tool. If you don't have that, pliers and a paper clip will actually work as well, as I'll show you. You'll want to use a screwdriver and remove this triangle trim right up here. We're in behind your door handle, there is a little a trapdoor there, you can see the tab in the upper left corner, and then there is a little trapdoor right here. Use a screwdriver and pry that off. Carefully pry that back there, straight out, pull your door panel up some, and then push down on the tab and pull the little trap door out. Same thing here a trim tab and pull this piece of trim. There are three Phillips screws, one there and two down there. Speed up the film here a little bit as I just remove those three Phillips screws.
Okay, the easiest way is the proper tool to get this handle off. Put it in here, there is actually a washer in behind the handle . You want to make sure that the tool goes between the handle and the washer. You can push in on the door panel a little bit. Get down there and then you push and that pushes the clip off and then the handle and washer come off. Then you'll want to reset the clip, just push it right in. If you don't have one of those tools, what you do is you take a regular paper clip. Bend it like that, grab a very small part of the end, make a little hook in it. Put the handle back on the door with the clip, and the clip should be the round end of it should be always on this end. What you do is take the hook of the paper clip, put it in there, try to put it in as straight as you can. Then kind of push in the handle like that a little bit and push, it in there, pull, that clip out and the handle comes off. You've got to kind of force it in there, twist it to engage that hook and then pull it out.
This is kind of a close up so here is how your handle is on the door. When you press your handle, press, it towards the door like this and that will actually kind of open up your washer a little bit. Then you put this down in here and I'll kind of show you, what you're looking to do, just put this down in and then hook it like that and then pull straight out. You can see it pulls the clip right out and if you pull hard enough, it will pull the thing right out. Just watch where the clip goes when it comes out. Then use your screwdriver, there's two clips on the edge of the door here . Just pull the clip out when the center comes out and then the clip comes out. Now to unsecure your clips around the outer edge of the door, I just put my fingers in behind and it releases pretty, and now you can lift the door panel up and off. Pull the panel out, reach back in here, there's a tab underneath, push, reach back in here. There's a tab underneath here, push that tab out and then push this whole assembly up and the door panel comes off.
To reinstall the door panel, just get it close, make sure that the little end of this cable goes down into the pit handle and just put it right on top. Look down and make sure it's in there and make sure you put your lock in. The panel, pressing, up towards the top, make sure the top goes down in that ledge and, you've got to look back in, you can see the lineup pin, and it should lineup pretty, easily. Insulation is in the way there. You got clips, if you reinstall the center, just make sure there pulled out like, that, put them in, press them to lock. Get your screws, trap door one, trap door two, trim here to make sure it goes in nice and straight. Again, make sure your clip is set in there, put that washer on, press that right on.
