How to find the interior fuse panel on 97, 98, 99, 00, 01, 02, 03, 04, 05, Lexus GS300
Hey, what's going on? Today, I'm going to show you fuses. This is a 2001 Lexus GS 300. I'm going to show you where the fuse boxes are located as well as how to tell if your fuse is good or not.
On this 2001 GS 300, there are five fuse and relay boxes. This is the same as a 98 to 2005, most vehicles. The main one here is where the fuse puller tool is located. This is the passenger side, back of the engine compartment. Just push on there. Lift that up. And then your fuse tool is right here. Okay. This makes it nice and easy to grab fuses. You put it on, squeeze it, pull up, and then once you have your new fuse, load it in there, and push it down. Once you see some of the other fuse boxes, you'll see why that's so convenient. And then there's a whole bunch of different fuses. A lot of them are labeled here. You know, your turn and hazard, EFI fuse, horn, and then there's a few. These larger ones are relays.
Put the cover back on. Then over here, on the driver's side, there's another relay box that does have two headlight fuses in it as well, and a few different relays for the fans. And then at the back of the driver's side, another relay. There's a little tab you push forward, pull that up and off, and you can see ABS motor, track motor, ABS solenoid, and the horn relay. Actually, like that.
Driver's side, right near the emergency brake pedal. There's a little button here. Pull that out, and then pull this door off. You can see some of the fuses in there. OBD2, heater, wiper fuses, and again, here's our tool from under the hood. Push it in, put it on a fuse, and squeeze it. Pull the fuse out. Okay. Your new fuse, position it in the tool. Carefully, feed it in there and push it in. And then you squeeze the teeth to release the fuse. The door goes back on.
There's another one on the passenger's side, up over the feet of the passenger. Pull on the tab here. It comes out. A few of the fuses in here, television, heated mirrors, rear fog light, things like that. Just shows it on the back side of that door. Again, your tool from under the hood. If you need to pull one of the fuses out, lock it on, squeeze near the fuse, pull out, and then put the fuse back in. Push it on and then squeeze the end to release the fuse. Put the door back on.
It's important once you service the fuses, make sure you put the tool back in place. It goes right here, next to this little black tab. It just locks down in place.
So, a little about fuses. What does a fuse do? It protects your valuable electrical components like a power mirror or something like that in overload. It's very easy to see here. Basically, power comes in through one side and then it goes right through this little filament and comes out to the other side. What a fuse is designed to do is, once the power goes above the rated capacity, in this case it's a 20 amp fuse, that filament will break. You can see this is a goods fuse here. Filament's right through it. This is a broken fuse. You can see that the filament has been disrupted.
It's the same thing with these small ones, although harder to see. This is a good fuse, and you can see the filament kind of winds through here. And this is a bad fuse. It's tough to see, but the filament is broken, and right here, there's a little black spot. So, a good fuse, you'll pull it out, you'll see the filament fuse intact. A bad fuse, you'll either see that the filament's broken or a black spot or burnt spot.
