Hi, I’m Mike from 1A Auto. We’ve been selling auto parts for over 30 years!
To remove this master window switch, there is a tab that is fitting under the door panel on this side, and there's a clip on this side, so it needs to be lifted up this way first, and then lift it out. I'm going to use this plastic prying tool—you can get these from 1AAuto.com—just kind of work it underneath the edge of the switch. If you need to, you can go on this side, the outside here. I'm just going to pop it up, and then it's going to lift out backwards. This hook here has to come off. Push in the locks, and pull this connector out. And another lock on this side, undo this connector. Take that out.
Then go in behind the door handle, use a plastic trim tool to pop this lock off. Might have to do it with that. Pop that plastic piece out, and put that aside. There's a small push clip. You can use a small flat bladed screwdriver to kind of open it up. Tricky to get in here. So, popped it out, now I can pull the clip out. It should be unlocked, and when I pull the door panel off, it should pop that out.
Remove the Phillips head screw. There's just push clips that are around the edge of the door holding it to the door panel now, so I'm going to hold onto the door and just give it a firm pull. Reach my hand underneath. The top of this door panel kind of clamps around the door panel, so I lift it up and off. Now that clip popped out because it was unlocked. So, we've got the door lock, the cables, going to pop this out and then pop that up. And then, there's another one here. I'm going to pop that off of there and this will pull out.
Take the small flat bladed screwdriver, and pop this lock up. I just had to pry this tab out from underneath this metal here, and that's what unlocked it. I need to remove this clip here and push that off. We'll pull that straight up, and pull the door panel out of the car.
The mirror is held on with three nuts and studs. One of them you can access through here. The other two are behind this rubber plug and the vapor barrier. Use a flat bladed screwdriver to pop this rubber plug out. With that rubber plug out of there, you can see the two nuts and studs in there. There's one in there up top. The harness for the mirror is kind of running down through here, so we'll carefully peel back this weather strip, the vapor barrier. If you need to, you can use a small razor blade to cut the adhesive and peel it back. This stuff's pretty soft. It's also very, very sticky. You'll want to wear gloves because it'll get all over you. But we can peel it back.
Now to unplug this, push in the lock up here pulling it out and then sliding it underneath this wiring. I'm going to push the tabs here so we can push the harness out. Squeeze them together. Pop it out. I'm using a 10mm deep socket extension and ratchet. I'm going to go up and remove the nuts and the studs. My best to not drop them inside the door. And go through the lower hole to get the lower nut off the stud. Just using a long extension. I'm going to reach in with my fingers. Don't drop it. Which leaves the final one. The mirror has got a little plastic hook, so it won't totally fall off the door. Try and get that screw out and reach up hands. Don't drop it inside the door. This is loose. It's on a hook. It's in the back and I'm just going to kind of pull it out. Just guide the harness out. There's our mirror.
Here's our original mirror from our vehicle and this one is the driver's side. The replacement one here, the brand new one from 1aauto.com is actually the passenger's side, so we're not going to replace it on our vehicle, but this would be identical to the driver's side. It comes in black plastic. This can be taken to a body shop and color matched if you like or it can be installed as is. It comes with the glass. These little protective boots are over the three studs. It comes with a little mounting tab and the harness. Since our driver's side one is okay, I'm going to go reinstall that in the vehicle.
I'm going to feed the harness down. I want to go to the outside of the window track because right here is where the window's going to go up and down, so you don't want to put the harness through or the window will catch it. You'll want to go to the outside. Now line up the studs and push it in place. So it'll sit there for now. So it was easier to remove the mirror with the window down, but now to route the harness, I need to get it around the run channel for the window.
So I'm just going to put the window up, so that I can work in there. I'm going to go plug in our master window switch again. Turn on the ignition. Put the window up. Turn the ignition off.
Unplug our harness for this, that way you can't make sure the ignition is off and this is unplugged and that way you can't accidentally hit the button and shut the window on your fingers. See now this harness is right here but you don't want to have it run like this because the window is going to come down and catch it. It's got to go out and around the run channel. Now to loop it around, I'm going to click it back into place here where the holder was. Run it back so it's underneath this wiring. Plug it back in.
Now I'm going to put the nuts back on the studs. Put them in the socket first. I'm going to actually use the socket extension here to start it. Now I've just got to tighten these down. Just take it back off and stick it back into place. Now we'll take our little weight off of here. When you're done, you just push the vapor barrier back up into place. Just get that to stick down. Put our rubber plug back in.
To reinstall our door panel, we'll feed the master window switch up into the opening in the door panel. You're going to get close to the door. You need to reinstall the door lock and the door pull handle. This one with the threads, or the things that look like threads on it, sits in this opening here. You're going to get it pushed into place, and put this lock over. Get that into position. Also, helps to have the window open, as you can see, so you can kind of look through.
Grab our other cable and do the same thing. Push it into the opening, push the lock over, snap that in place and then push this lock up there. Now, I'm going to hang on the edge of the door panel. We'll get that set up first, just like that. Make sure our harness is out here, and we can just push it into place on the clips. Go around the door panel and push it in.
This Phillips head screw with the shoulder goes to the top. There's also a push clip that goes in here. Push that in place. Push the center part in to lock it. Place the trim cap, slide the little hook front part in. That's installed. Then, install this screw.
To install this, plug the large connector back in place. It'll click when it's locked in. Plug this small white connector into here. It'll also click. There's a tab that's going to fit into the door panel on this side first, then a clip that's going to clip down into the door panel. Start by fitting it this way, and then pushing it down into the door panel.

This mirror connects properly and operates with power exactly like the original mirror. This mirror has a better field of view than what was originally on my car. Self-installation was straight forward because of the video instructions. Just make note that in the part of the video where they remove the door panel, they forget to tell you about a screw located roughly in the center of the panel. However, they show how to reinstall the screw later in the video, so all the information you need is there.
Wiring harness/clip doesn't match the old one. So you have to adjust it manually. No instructions on a way to splice the wire or a adapter for the stock harness connection. Overall I still say look and fitment is 10/10 only gave 4 stars for the electrical issue.

The replacement mirror from 1AAuto was a perfect match. Also, it has worked perfectly since being installed two weeks ago, although the 2010 Civic is driven by only one person who seldom changes the mirrors position. I spray painted the mirror with high quality auto paint (from a 12oz. can), and it looks great. I watched several internet videos on how to install the new mirror. Its a fairly easy job, and the install requires no special tools at all beyond a socket extension. Be careful, and dont hurry. Only one simple electrical connection in the mirror needs to be disconnected and then reconnected. The only tricky part is making sure that the electrical cord is reinstalled forward of the window glass. Otherwise, the cord will prevent the window from going up and down. Its easier to remove the damaged mirror with the window down; its easier to install the new mirror with the window in the up position. Glad I bought from 1A Auto.
