You pull off and reuse the gear. It’s pretty simple to pull out the small pin holding the gear onto the sensor. If that gear is chewed up (It’s plastic) you’ll need to replace it with a new one. 1A Auto has a video about this task and they show how to remove the gear.
This part does not include the cable and it is correct for models without the digital dash.

That’s where the speedometer cable goes. This item isn’t digital. It for older fords that use a physical turning cable.
If your model has the digital dash, then yes it does make a difference. This part will not fit your vehicle, but we may have a part that is listed to fit.
