The spark plugs that came from factory on these 5.4L engines are notorious for breaking. These plugs are an upgrade and should not break when removing in the future.
Hi David, The Sp515 spark plugs and is a great upgrade to previous spark plugs out there. The key thing with the 5.4 is to change out the plugs the engine needs to be cold because I of the aluminum heads. Put ati-seaze on the plugs and you will have no issues. My customers have have better gas mileage using this spug. Hope this answers your question.
Yes there is an extraction tool. The metal sleeve around the eletctrode is pressed on and it tends to stay in the head when you pull the plug out. This tool will tap threads into the sleeve then you thread another piece in to pull the sleeve out. i have switch to champion 7989 plugs because they are a one piece plug and will not come apart
