In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a side view mirror on this 2003 F-250. The procedure is basically the same for any '99 to '07, although mirror options and whatever may differ. At 1A Auto, we do offer this towing-style mirror. You can obviously replace a broken mirror, and something popular for us is a lot of people replace the smaller, paddle-type mirrors with the large towing mirrors. We do offer these mirrors in manual as well as various power, power heated, etc. The tools you'll need are 7mm socket with a ratchet extension as well an 11mm socket and a flat-blade screwdriver.

If you wanted to prevent the battery from running down if you have the doors open for an extended period of time, just disconnect your negative battery cable using an 8mm wrench, loosen up the nut, and then pull the cable off. Using a small flat blade screwdriver, take this lens, pop it off. Mine's actually broken. Should pry out here. Pop it off. Here, you're going to do the same thing. You pull up your hand or use your screwdriver a little bit. Right in the front. You pull that up, pull it forward, and then you disconnect all the harnesses. There's little push tabs on them. Push on the tab with your thumb. Pull the harness here. Push on the tab here. Tab here. Push on it to remove it.

Same thing here. You just pull down this trim panel. It's got two clips that hold it on. Now there are two 7mm bolts, one right there and then one right there. 7mm socket with a ratchet extension, a wrench would work as well. Fast forward as I just remove those two bolts. Once those two bolts are off, just lift up on your panel, bring it out, and then behind is your courtesy light. Just turn it counterclockwise, pull the socket out, and your door panel comes off. Then you're going to want to pull down water shield here and disconnect this pin. Disconnect this harness connection. It's just a little tab right here. Push in and pull it out, put it back in. Then there are four 11mm mounting bolts, two right in there and then two behind the plugs. I'm going to speed up the tape here through removing those four 11mm nuts. You want to try to avoid dropping them down into the door if you can. I'm very careful. At one point, you'll see I actually use a screwdriver to help me keep a bolt in the socket. If you do drop them down in the door, not the biggest or worst thing, you just have to remove the speaker to reach down in there. There's the mirror off. The new mirror from 1A Auto comes with a new pad, peel the backing off. Run the two studs there. Pull your harness down. You want to stick it down into the mirror. Take the mirror, put your harness through first. Now, again, feed the harness all the way down. Make sure it doesn't get caught up at all. Pull the studs through.

What you want to do is just put one of your bolts on through, start it on there. See my harness connection. Just feeding it up through here and pulling it through. Make sure it's through correctly. Start another bolt, or, nut. I'll speed up here as I just start those four 11mm nuts and then tighten them up. You want to tighten them up nice and firm. There's no reason to over-tighten them. You don't have to get them as tight as possible or anything like that. You just want to tighten them nice and firm. Take that, bring your switch up here. Obviously, you'll have to reconnect the battery to do this. Quick test. Mirror's working.

To reinstall your door panel, what you want to do is take your bottom clips and they're actually designed just to go on here and rest in place and you reach down and put in your courtesy light, and turn it clockwise to lock it in. Then make sure all these harnesses coming up through. Press it against, lift it up a little bit, make sure your door lock comes through, press it against. You lift it just up a little bit, push it in, and bring it down on to make sure you're nice and tight against the door. Nice and tight against the door over here. Then put these plugs back in place.

We'll speed it up again as I take those two 7mm screws, put them in and tighten them up nice and firm. Now I'm going to clip the molding on off the top to cover the mirror mounting holes and then take my switch panel, reconnect all my harnesses, then I slide the tab back into the back first. Make sure no wires are getting pinched in there and then clip it down in place. It's all set. If you disconnected your battery, then reconnect it, and tighten up the 8mm bolt.
