In this video we'll be showing you hood lift support strut replacement on this 1997 Expedition, same as any '97-'02 Expedition and '97-'03 F150. You have a sliding hood on your Ford Expedition or F150, and rather than trimming a piece of wood, this is actually a really easy problem to fix. You just need to replace the lift cylinders. You can buy them at 1A Auto, and I'm going to show you real quick how easy it is to install them.
You'll pry out a little clip with a small screw driver. Pull that out, that's really all you need. With that clip out of the way, you can remove it, and then take a little one. It's the lower clip. Pry it up out of the way. There's your old support strut off.
Here's the original strut and here's the new strut from 1A Auto. You can see it's all the same. It's going to mount in the same. Put the bottom on first and then that's on there. That's all set. See? It works great.

About as easy as it gets, I pried the old ones off and snapped the new ones on and now it doesn't fall on my head shortly after I lift it up (it actually snaps up with a bit of force now).

I was impressed at the quality of the hood lift struts from 1A Auto. I went to the Ford dealership and discovered that I could buy a used car for what they wanted for their OEM Ford struts. I looked at the struts on the 1A Auto website and was very impressed. The video's made it very easy to remove the old ones and install the new ones. I would highly recommend them to anyone else who needs new hood struts for their Ford F-150.

1ALSP00030-Ford 2 piece hood lift support set TRQ GSA05088 are perfect for my 2000 Ford Expedition 4.6L V8 Triton XLT. They were simple to take off and put on.
These were easy to remove and install. Just make sure the hood has adequate support during the transition from old to new.

Weve got a 1999 Expedition and they are the perfect replacement for OEM hood lifts. Super easy to remove the old and swap in the new. Just make sure you adequately support the hood with something or someone during the transition from old to new. Just one wont hold it up. Have fun!
