Need Dodge Grand Caravan Parts?
Manufactured by Dodge, the Grand Caravan was introduced in 1987 as a long-wheelbase variant of the previously released Caravan which, along with the Plymouth Voyager, essentially created the minivan segment when it debuted in 1983. The Caravan was the first of its kind, and the Grand Caravan provided consumers an extended option all the way until 2007, when the Caravan was discontinued. The Grand Caravan continued on and is still reliably transporting families to baseball games, family outings, and much more. Not only has it been doing it safely, but in style, too, thanks to its many features and sleek interior. However, despite being known for its dependability, wear and tear of parts will ultimately occur, as with any vehicle. Luckily, 1A Auto provides premium Dodge Grand Caravan aftermarket replacement parts to replace your worn and broken OEM parts. Our Dodge Grand Caravan parts are built to last, so you can continue to take your Dodge Grand Caravan everywhere you need to.

Dodge Grand Caravan Changes the Market
While the Caravan dominated the newly created minivan market, the Dodge Grand Caravan was added in 1987 as an long-wheelbase (LWB) version of the Caravan. It offered extra seating with two rear bench seats that could seat up to three people on each, thus increasing passenger capacity to eight instead of the Caravan’s seven. The growth in size also allowed more cargo space. It came in the same levels as the Caravan with a base, SE, and LE trim. Engine choices throughout the first generation were a 3.0 literV6 or a 2.5L inline four-cylinder. By 1990, a fuel-injected 3.3L V6 with 150 horsepower became the standard engine. Safety features were added, such as rear shoulder belts and child safety locks with the new generation, which went into production in 1990.
The Family Vehicle's Improvements
The Grand Caravan was a top seller for minivans in the United States and with good reason. It continued to provide innovative features to the public. Some of these ideas included a “Converta-Bed” that turned the middle and rear bench seats into a bed, but the Grand Caravan was also the first to make second row captain’s chairs available. All-wheel drive was an option as well. As the Caravan continued its success, it underwent a complete restyle in 1995. Out went the retro-boxy shape and in came a more curved style with a sleek hood and rounded back. Dual sliding doors were now included, and the car ran on a 2.4L 4-cylinder engine with 150 horsepower as the standard.
The third generation was a major hit but critically and with consumers. By the 2000s, the fourth generation Grand Caravan (introduced in 200) included powered dual sliding doors and tailgate, side air bags, a DVD player, and an all new “Stow ‘n Go” system that folded the seats into the floor for more cargo space.
In 2007 a new generation of the Grand Caravan arrived. At that point, Dodge dropped the short wheelbase Caravan. The new generation brought a “Swivel ‘n Go” seating option appeared where chairs could be turned around to face a stow-away table. The feature was discontinued after the 2010 model year. In both the 2011 and 2014 model year versions, the minivan received a facelift and some new packages and features.
Now, the Grand Caravan continues to be on the cutting edge of adding new features and being a leader in the minivan market. Its most desirable feature that separates it from the rest of the pack is the stow-away chairs. It comes with a 3.6L V6 with 283 horsepower and a six-speed automatic. The design is boxier than the previous generation with sharper angles and less curves. It comes with all the common amenities, like a rear camera, power operated tailgate, locks, and doors, and Blu-Ray player for entertainment. Some other options in the higher trims (R/T, SE, SXT) include a heated steering wheel and heated rear seats, sunshades, and rear independent climate control. Affordable, stylish, and practical, the Dodge Grand Caravan is known as a perfectly suitable family car. For daily driving or long distance travels on a family vacation, few minivans can compare to the comfort and reliability of the Dodge Grand Caravan.
