In this video, we're going to show you how to replace the air shocks on this 2002 Chevy Suburban. It's the same part and similar process on these Suburbans with the air shocks from 2000 to 2013. The items you'll need for this are new air shocks from 1AAuto.com, 21mm socket and ratchet with an extension, 21mm wrench, pry bar, and jack and jack stands.
Start off by disconnecting this harness. Just pull up the tab and pull it free. For the air hose, you want to pull down on this clip and then pull the hose free. Then, push the clip back in to reset it. Now you want to remove this 21mm nut and this 21mm nut. Using a ratchet and a wrench, remove those and we'll fast forward as Mike does this. Jack up the wheel unless your vehicle is on the ground then you'll be all set and then pull those two bolts out. You can pull your suspension forward and out.
On the bottom is the old air shock. Above it is the new one from 1A Auto. You can see they're identical and will fit exactly the same. Put your new air shock up into place and replace that top bolt first, and then, push the lower one into place and replace those bolts and the 21mm nuts. Push your harness into place and then push your air hose into place and you're all set.

Very simple factory swap I will purchase for my other vehicle now
The parts were guaranteed to fit my 2002 chevy suburban. The front shocks were fine, but the rear shocks were not air shocks as claimed by 1a auto. I had to pay return shipping for the parts that did not fit, and I have still not heard from the company on receiving my money back. I wish all 4 shocks fit as advertised, and I wish return shipping was covered on parts that were guaranteed to fit, but did not fit under no fault of my own. After calling the support center to try to get an exchange, the operator kept saying the back shocks should fit and made excuses that the back shocks must have been converted, which I believe to be false.

This kit will fit for your vehicle. The rears will be passive air struts and the fronts are standard gas shocks. Resistors are included so you do not get any dash error lights.

It would be a good idea to make sure the connector is firmly attached, terminals are clean of any corrosion, and no damaged/frayed wiring. If that does not fix the issue, you may need to replace that shock.

I called the "stealer"ship and they told me that it's $620 per piece for the rear and $550 a piece for the front. I have an 05 chevy tahoe lt 5.3 v8 and after calling the dealerships multiple times for pricing I would never go to the dealership when 1AAuto has the after market full kit with the compressor for the price of one shock at the dealership. Just my opinion though
Enter an answer to this question.All shocks with electric dampening harnesses will have the true auto electric dampening air ride all around on any year. 1aauto does not carry the proper rear shocks to factory replace the rear. Hence the price being so cheap. If you don't mind deleting GMC's factory perfect air tuned suspension feel free to convert to this less quality product.

These parts will still require a compressor. This kit is a passive conversion for models that came equipped with an automatic dampening (electronic) suspension. It does not convert it to standard shocks and struts. It will fit like the original, bypass the factory sensors, and create a more consistent ride, thanks to a revised gas shock design. The rear shocks are still air shocks and would require the compressor.
