The kit is great...very complete! Would be nice if gave better placement/usage details on the separate bags. But it really saved me money doing it all myself!
This comes with gaskets for both the intake and exhaust manifolds as pictured.
Take it to a mechanic. Most sounds like your head gasket is leaking though.
We do not have the head gasket set for the 2006 Equinox currently.
It appears there will be slight differences between the 2005 model 3.4L engine, and the 2006 model 3.4L engine that would disqualify this set from working on the 2006 model.
You can also match it with the gaskets that you took off
yes I think so there was a lot of gaskets and O-rings in the kit.

There is a lot of good information on this thread! I would suggest doing it while you are there, some of the damage to the head bolts can be easily over looked by the naked eye. It may not be necessary, but the preventative maintenance while you have it all apart is a smart decision. Have a great day!
