To open the hood on this 2005 Avalanche, open your door, pull the release. The secondary release is actually under the emblem here. Push it to this side and lift the hood up. We're going to replace the turn signal because it's extremely yellowed and discolored and the tab's also broken. It's held in with zip ties. Normally, take a look at our new part real quick here, there's a lock tab that gets pushed in the radiator support. You reach your finger in there and release it and pull the headlamp out. I'll show you that when I install the new one, but for now, I'm going to cut these out and remove the old one.
Using side cutting pliers, get rid of these zip ties. You'd have to reach in here, push down, unlock the tab, and then this would pop out. Undo this connector, push the tab in to unlock it, and twist it counterclockwise. This one just twists counterclockwise, comes right out.
Here's our old turn signal lamp from our vehicle. As you can see, it's barely clear anymore, the sun has really destroyed this one. Rock chips. Here's our brand new one from 1AAuto.com. This is going to give you much, much better visibility for your turn signal. Just going to look a whole lot better. And as we can see, it's got the same mounting tabs.
Has a new lock tab, which is broken on our old one. So this is going to look great, fit great and really make your vehicle look a lot nicer. The turn signal assembly comes with some white, plastic covers so nothing gets in there during shipping. Just going to peel these off, install the socket, and turn it clockwise to lock it. Install our turn signal bulb. Goes in this way, turns and it locks on a tab. This slides underneath, this goes into here. This tab will snap into this part of the radiator support. Give it a little bit of a push, just like that.
