This video, we're going to show you how to replace the spark plug wires on your '97 Buick LeSabre. The process is pretty much the same from '97 through '99.You're only going to really need is a small pocket screwdriver or a pick.
The coil packs are marked, and they correspond with each cylinder. The left head being closest to the front of the car is 1, 3, and 5; on the back is 2, 4, and 6.
Starting with the first cylinder, I'm going to remove the plug from the coil, and then from the spark plug. I'm going to do that: cylinder 3 and cylinder 5. There's a clip here. If you use a pocket screwdriver and pry in, it'll come out. You pull the wires out of the intake. There's the same clip back here that you can use the pocket screwdriver for. Once that's done, you can pull off 2, 4, and 6.
I know that number 1 is the shortest, and it goes to the first cylinder. I'm going to go with the second shortest, and this is going to go with 3. And then 5. Here, I'm just pressing the wires in 1, 3, and 5 into the channel that's located on the valve cover. You'll notice that cylinders 2, 4, and 6 on the back side come with a heat shield that comes off. If you're replacing the wires, you'll have to swap them over if you don't get new ones. These are all pretty much the same length.
Let's start with cylinder number 2. I'll snake it underneath this there. Plug it in, get it into my clip, then on top of the intake, into my back side clip, and then onto the spark plug. I'm going to speed this up while I finish up with cylinders 4 and 6. It's going to go in just the same way as 2 did. Just snake it through the clips and back in onto your plugs.
If your coils aren't marked, or you're unsure about the cylinder marking system, what you could do also is replace one wire at a time. That way you'll avoid possibly mixing up the wires.
