Hey, friends. It's Len here, at 1A Auto. Today I'm working on a 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser, and I'm going to show you how to do a left front door handle assembly with, of course, the lock assembly. Here we go. What we're going to do is we're going to grab our small pocket screwdriver, careful not to scuff our paint as much as possible here. All we want to do is pull out this little plastic tabby thing here, just a little cover. Okay? Nothing special about it. All it does is cover this hole, and the hole covers are a little bolt that's right there. What we want to do now is we want to remove that bolt. Let's see. We're going to use our Torx bit 27. It looks like a star. The bolt itself should stay right in there. Okay. Now we're going to come out here. I'm just going to grab onto our lock cover here. Pull that right out.
Now we'll grab our handle. We'll pretend like we're opening the door. Let's see. Here we are. Just got to work it a little bit. Little open, little closed, somewhere in the middle there. And here's our handle assembly. Lock. Handle. There we are. Let's go ahead and replace this. Here we are. It's the backside of the lock. Okay? Right here, you can tell there's a little tab. All we're going to do is lift. Try to pry this little thing out of here. It should come right out. There we are. Easy peasy.
Right here we have our original FJ Cruiser—well, 2007 Toyota FJ Cruiser door handle. We just removed it, the little lock cover there. Okay? Over here, we have our brand new quality 1A Auto part. Yeah, it's a different color. Yeah, you can get it painted if you want. Or if you like it black, I would go with black. I just want to show you both handles are the exact same, in exception of just a different color. If you're worried about the color like I said, you can go ahead and paint it, or you can do whatever you need to do. This right here, same exact setup. As you can tell, they're both the same exact shape. Everything looks the same except for the color. Okay, so let's just take a look at it real quick. It's the way it goes in. Get this little shifty thing right there. I'm just going to go in there like that. This piece right here—here's my pocket screwdriver. You can try to separate it a little bit and slide it in. Here we are. Looks like it's good to go. Let's go ahead and install this into the vehicle. Okay. So now what we're going to do, we're going to take our new door handle, just going to slide it in from the front there, in the backside. Let's give it a little bonk. There we are.
It's in there nice. Ensure our bolt isn't sliding through. Sometimes it likes to try to come back through. We don't want that yet. The locking assembly, this unit right here, is pretty much what holds your handle assembly in. So once we get this in and bolt it in, it's going to hold in the door latch, or door handle, I should say. Alright. Take our T27. I'm just going to snug this up. Okay—bottomed out. Give it a little bit. And grab our cover. Here we are. Okay? Windows down just in case. Flawless. Booya.

The quality of the finish is nice but the fit is loose
They look amazing, fitment was not as easy as they made it look in the install video. Im still having issues with the door handle not want to sit flush. I open the door and the handle stays out. Super annoying. I may have to take the handle off and take a dremmel to the back of it. There are two prongs from the door, that dont seem to be sitting right with the door handle. Kind of bummed with this part.
The passenger side does not retract down correctly to be smooth. It's too bad there is not an option to have a key for the passenger side.
These were easy to instal and look great. The only downfall is that you can no longer unlock the door from the passenger side, as there isnt a whole in the handle for the factory look. Other than that theyre great! Love the black! I paired them with black mirrors from here to complete the look.
It fits but different from OEM. Super light that it feels so cheap and it does not close all the way when you pull to open the door. Only gave 2 stars because of the youtube video
The handles look great and were easy to install and they seem to be fairly solid. My only reason for not giving them five stars is on the backside of the handle they dont feel quite as smooth as the OEM handles, with noticeable ridges where the parts of the handle are connected.
The door handles fit perfect on my 2010 Toyota FJ Cruiser. They were incredibly easy to install after watching the video from 1AAuto. I would recommend this product for sure!
Came as advertised, looks great, works great!
These handles were exactly what I needed to black out my 2008 fj cruiser. Keep in mind these handles only account if you have a lock on your driver door. So you will need to remove your passenger side key during the install which is super easy. These handles are a matte black with a slightly textured surface. The only downside is sometimes they catch oddly after opening them... not sure if I need to make some minor adjustments for that perfect fit. But overall great look and feel.
