The generic mirror already has a large scratch going across the face of the mirror, and there's pitting around the edges where the reflective material is already starting to fail. This mirror from Trail Ridge uses a very high-quality reflective material, as well as being a defrosting upper and panoramic mirror, where this one only has a defrosting upper mirror.
The Trail Ridge mirror has a much finer, more uniform finish. Another great benefit to these mirrors is the caps are interchangeable, so you have all this selection, on top of being a quality fit and finish on the largest section of your mirror, which is what the majority of people looking at your truck are going to see.
There’s nice clean metal on the hinge for this mirror. The generic part is already rusting out on the hinge. It's brand new. It's never been exposed to the elements. It's rusting out already.
We have the same color sockets on the generic mirror. The ends have waterproofing in them. Somebody did this very quickly. They also have steel contacts on them. On the Trail Ridge Truck mirrors, the sockets are color coded. We know which one goes where. We have a brass contact that's not going to corrode, and it's going to conduct electricity much more smoothly.
The wiring on the Trail Ridge mirror uses the OEM color coding, so all of these colors and pin-outs are going to match up for the factory wiring colors, as well as the pin locations. This generic mirror used whatever color wiring they had around. The wires in the Trail Ridge mirror are also a much heavier gauge. It also comes with an adapter harness for the earlier model trucks, that weren't as feature packed as the newer ones, which while still using the same bolt-on application, will have a different wire harness connector.
The Trail Ridge truck mirror still has that cool tinted look without being so dark that you're not going to be able to see your turn signals and side markers. The motor on the generic mirror is very loose. I can move this very easily by hand. The Trail Ridge truck mirror has nice smooth movement. It actually takes a little bit of force. These are zero-clearance motors, which means they're a lot more accurate. If you're using your mirror switch and you adjust it, when you let off, that's where it's staying.
We have a higher quality steel here. The ends are nice and secure, where you can see these are all bent up and banged up already.

These are night and day. I hand the old strap on towing mirrors. They flexed all the time. Took the stock mirrors of immediately got 4 inches more view. When deployed went for 18in to o er 21in. These mirrors are game changers. I can seeing a long way clearly.
Put these on my Tacoma. Bought a bigger trailer camper. The old strap on mirrors I've been using were just not working well. Seen these and bought them. Fit like a glove. Extend viewing by 4plus inches. Complete night and day difference

Super easy to replace my original mirrors. They look good and work beautifully. I didn't think I'd use the smaller wide-angle mirrors built into the main mirrors, but I find the passenger side one exceptionally useful even when not towing.
Good but the mirrors vibrate on the road making it difficult to discern cars behind you and on the side of you

Mirrors for my 2013 Tacoma, big enough to leave folded down and tow my 7' wide travel trailer. Great quality. Two cautions would have saved me time and purchase of replacement clips: 1) After removal of the triangle molding, REMOVE the 3 white clips from the door and reinstall them onto the molding. Its easy to pop them INTO the door so use needle nosed pliers to hang onto them when popping them out. I pushed all three of my clips into the door never to be seen again at the very last step. (clips are available on eBay) 2) make very sure to start each nut onto each stud before allowing the mirror to move away from the door!!!. Hold the mirror TIGHT to the door during the initial start of each nut (10 mm socket, not an 11 mm for both old and new nuts) I had a nut fall into the door because it was not threaded onto the top stud while I was getting the second nut ready. Over an hour to recover it from inside the door. Put the nut in the socket using it as a tool to start the thread.
Mirror was an easy install, seems to be good sturdy construction, adjusts as easily as OEM, and provides good visibility of surroundings. Swivels and stays in upright position easily as well with the inset wide view positioned conveniently. No vibration noted in mirror image due to secure mounting.

Hello Patrick! These mirrors will fold in/out manually and flip up/down manually, so you have to do it by hand.
Yes these mirrors will fold in just like the stock ones!
I mounted these on my 2012 Tacoma. I pull a boat/trailer that is 8 feet wide and about 25 feet long. Folded IN, they give you much better visibility than the stock mirrors (and probably comparable to what you'd see with snap-on extensions). When rotated out, they're just in a different league. The large mirror is great for seeing behind you and the small mirror is great for your blind spot. It took a bit of getting used to using the blind spot mirror on the passenger side since the stock mirror gives you a wider angle than the large mirror. As a bonus, using a relay, switch and tapping into power, I now have heated mirrors where I didn't before.
