Lift and support your hatch with a sturdy piece of wood or have a friend help you to hold it because as soon as you release these, the full weight of the hatch is going to want to come down.
We're using a stand jack. You could also use a ladder. To remove these hatch struts, take a small flat bladed screwdriver, slide it in here and undo the lock. It's going to want to come off the ball socket that's on the bottom. Then, we'll go up top, same setup, and lock it using the flat bladed screwdriver. Pull your hatch strut off.
To reinstall it, I like to just open up the lock, make it a little bit easier. Push it on. I need to push the lock up a little bit to get it snapped in. That's locked on. We'll do the top one. Open up the lock. We need to use our screwdriver to just ply it down. Your hatch strut is installed. You can have your friend stop holding it for you now or remove the jack or ladder that's holding it. The hatch stay up on its own with strong new struts.

Excellent video for installing.. easy to do.. struts do not have the same lift power, as OEMs? Still work fine, just slower to lift completely
These were the perfect replacement for my wife's 2006 Honda Pilot. 1 Support had completely blown and had been in bad shape for awhile before that. Replacing both made the lift gate work like the day we had bought the car brand new. Careful when opening the retaining clips with a screw driver, and twist the support to align before installing onto the car.
The openings at each end of the pistons came facing the same direction. The openings should be facing opposite each other! Had to forcibly grab and turn one end of piston to get the openings facing correctly. Not an easy task to do without damaging them. Hoping doing that did not mess them up. Installed them 3 weeks ago and so far they are working just fine.
Fits well and it looks like an OEM without the high price. The lifts made opening the lift gate a breeze. It would have been a five if it didnt give me a problem lifting the clip to fit in the ball. No instructions included!
