Hi, I'm Mike from 1A Auto. I hope this "How to" video helps you out and next time you needs parts for your vehicle, think of 1AAuto.com. Thanks. In this video, we're going to show you how to replace a side view mirror on this 2002 Ford Escape. Basically, the same procedure for any '01 to '07 Escape also, similar for the Mercury Mariner. The only tools you will need for this job are a small flat blade screwdriver, a Phillips screwdriver and a 7mm wrench or socket and ratchet.
To start out, use a little screwdriver. There's kind of a little trap door here. Reach in and pry it out. There's a Phillips screw back in there. Same thing here. Pop that off, Phillips screw and there's a Phillips screw right down in the door pull and another Phillips screw in the back. Fast-forward here as I remove those four screws. Once you have those out then pull your bezel around your door handle here right off. Now, usually you can reach right into this corner and start pulling out and work your fingers underneath. Pull out front. A series of clips that hold the door on. There's two up in here. Alright, door panel comes off. When you get behind, there's a little button on top of this connector. Sometimes it's difficult to press. Press down, pull it out and now you try to pull the bottom of this out with your fingers up underneath and pull it off. Now you want to pull back your water shield carefully. Right here is where your mirror connects. Just a little button right here. Disconnect the mirror. Then you'll need a 7mm socket and ratchet or a wrench would work. Remove these three bolts.
As you can see, my old mirror other than some pollen on here is in good shape so, I'm just going to re-install it. Just wanted to do this video to show you how to do it. The new mirrors from 1A Auto are going to be exactly like the original. They're going to bolt in just the same and have the same connector. Just feed your parts right down in, put the mirror in place and start one of the bolts. The top one here. Start that in to hold it. Reach around here and make sure my harness is in the right place. Re-connect the harness. Start my other two bolts. I will speed it up as I just start those other two bolts in and then tighten up all three. When you tighten them, you want them nice and firm, but don't over tighten them.
Set this right back on. First reconnect your harness. Put the top up and over the weather strip here. Look back in here, make sure that the pins are going into the holes. Fast-forward as I put the bezel on and then the screws so, the natural colored screw goes behind the door handle. The skinnier diameter black screw goes in the back and then the two larger black screws go in the door pull and the front of the door panel. Then to finish up, make sure you just close the little trap door in behind the door handle and put that front button trim back on.
We hope this helps you out. Brought to you by www.1AAuto.com. Your source for quality replacement parts and the best service on the internet. Please feel free to call us toll free 888-844-3393. We're the company that's here for you on the internet and in person.

The design of this replacement mirror is slightly different from the original mirror, but it takes a close look to spot the difference. The installation video was very helpful and the install went on without a hitch.
