Hi, I'm Mike from 1AAuto. We've been selling auto parts for over 30 years! We're dedicated to delivering quality auto parts, expert customer service, and fast and free shipping, all backed by our 100% satisfaction guarantee. We've created thousands of videos to help you install our parts with confidence. That saves you time and money, so visit us at 1AAuto.com, your trusted source for quality auto parts.
In this video, we are going to be working with our 2001 Ford Ranger. We're going to show you how to remove and replace the exterior door handle for your rear doors or suicide doors on the extended cab trucks. If you like this video, please click subscribe. We have a ton more information on this truck, as well as many other makes and models. If you want this part for your vehicle, you can follow the link down in the description over to 1AAuto.com.
Here are the items you will need for this repair: drill, drill bits, rivet gun, rivets
Drill out these two rivets on the exterior door handle. Pull the handle out. Pinch the ends together here and slide them out. You'll want to hold the cable in place while you slide that plastic collar off. Repeat these steps with the one on the top. You can remove your handle.
Here we have our old door handle that we removed from our Ranger and our new part from 1AAuto.com. As you can see, these parts are exactly the same with the same rivet locations at the top and corner, the same handle, and the same mechanism in the back. It even comes with new clips to attached to your cables. If your old door handle has become broken, loose, or damaged, this new part from 1A Auto is going to go in direct fit just like your original equipment and fix you up right.
Prepare the door handle by pushing the tabs in and lifting the clips up so you can install your cables. Reinstall the cables and push the clip back in to lock the cables back into the handle. Now you will have to push the end of the cable into the hole, line the cable up with the slot, and slide it into place. Unfortunately, it's a little difficult to show, but it'll be the exact opposite process we showed you for removing them. Repeat this process with the top cable as well.
Install the back side of the handle first by hooking it onto the door, laying the top of the panel in place. You may have to pop the remaining portion of the rivet into the door with a hammer and a flat punch. Insert the rivet into your rivet gun. Line up the hole and insert the rivet. This particular rivet gun is pretty nice because we can rotate the head. So we will move that to get a little more room there. Simply keep it pressed against the end of the rivet. Open and close the handles until the rivet pops and repeat these steps in the other hole. Check for proper operation of your door handle, and you are good to go.
Thanks for watching. Visit us at 1AAuto.com for quality auto parts, fast and free shipping, and the best customer service in the industry.

Seems like they will work
Perfect fit work really well
The rear door handles broke and I was left with opening the doors with the cable. I ordered these handles and they fit perfectly and now my doors work like brand new! The product arrived in a timely manner and the cost was very acceptable.
Easy ordering. Quickly shipped and received in just a few days, about 5 days. Easy to follow video as well
They were a perfect match, I did buy new aluminum cable ends through Amazon though.
Something wrong with the plastic clips had to use the old ones since they didn't fit right and broke one trying to install it. NOT FACTORY SPECS.
Worked just as described. Only thing I would have wished for is if it included the rivets. I had to buy a whole box and then some black touchup paint.
