In this video, we're going to show you how to service the front side parking lights on this 2000 Mercury Grand Marquis. It's the same as any 1998 to 2002 Marquis. The only tools you'll need include a Phillips screwdriver, an 11mm socket, a ratchet, and socket extensions.
First, you need to remove this panel. There are two clips: one here, just turn it counterclockwise and pull it up and out; panel on this side it'll come right out. Right down in here, you've got an 11mm bolt. You'll need a socket with a ratchet and extension. You can kind of reach down with your fingers and finish getting that nut off. There's also a Phillips screw right here. Once you remove that, your parking light comes right out.
It looks like it's glued to the gasket on here. Then there are two. We can change these bulbs. Just twist counterclockwise and it comes out. And then on this one it's the same thing. Twist counterclockwise and it comes out. Both of these bulbs just pull straight out and back in.
New light from 1A Auto. It's nice, clear, and bright. Obviously a good fix if you've broken one of these in a slight accident. Also, it's a nice upgrade if your car's older and this is cloudy or faded. Every light installs just the same. It goes in, and you turn clockwise to lock it. Push your harness down in. There's a little hook right down here. You should kind of hold on to the harness. Put that stud in there and push the light into place.
Be careful on how you feed the nut down in there. Start it on my finger. Take a screw, and I'll pull out the light a little bit. Let's see here. Pull off the light, and you can see the hold where the screw goes. Push the light into place. I'm just going to fast-forward here as we tighten up the screw the rest of the way, and then we tighten up the nut on the inside. Take this panel; put it down in like that. Then put the clips in place and lock.
