In this video, we will show you how to replace an inside door handle on this 1998 Toyota Corolla. Same as any 1998 to 2002. The only tools you'll need are a Phillips screwdriver and possibly a flat-blade screwdriver.
Inside door handle replacement pretty easy. You'll see there's a Phillips screw right in the door handle. Remove that screw. Then the handle slides forward and pulls out. Behind the handle, you'll see there's a clip on a rod. Reach in with your finger and pull that clip back off. You may need a screwdriver. Push up and the handle's off.
This is my original handle. This is a new handle from 1A Auto. You can see it's all the same, the clip and everything. Put your flash rod here, put the handle in. Walk the rod down in there. To lock the clip, you pull up, and pull the handle back. This is more firm than the old one. Get it in place and tap to secure.

During a routine pull on the driver's door handle two weeks ago, the lever came loose, with an obvious break in the assembly. I went to YouTube, watched 1A Auto's video, saw how easy the replacement operation was shown to be, and ordered their part set. It came quickly, and EXACTLY AS ADVERTISED, I did the repair easily and the door latch again works perfectly. Nit-pickers may detect a slight difference in the plastic color; doesn't quite match the car's existing interior color, but that's of no importance to me, at all. What I care about: saving the hundred or so dollars a dealer's professional shop would have had to charge.
This was a great experience! From the ease of the online ordering, to the quick and free shipping, the great directional videos, and the customer service follow ups, I will go back for all of my auto needs.

I received the part I needed promptly and it was easy to install, just as the video said it would be.
No fault of 1A Auto but the last handle took forever to get out of my 98 Toyota Corolla LE ... but the video on youtube by 1A Auto how to do it was very helpful - ran it on my smartphone while in my car since I did not want to run into house for desktop video ... the holes in the back steel of the door are slightly off and the paneling is hard and cracking from age ... really appreciate the extra help ... hopefully this handle will last me until I replace the car - last one from different supplier only lasted about 3 to 4 years ... original one lasted 15 years. Yes, I would order from 1A Auto again and recommend them.
