In this video we're going to show you how to remove and install the rear window regulator on this 1994 Camry, same as pretty much any 1992-1996 Camry. The tools you'll need are a regular screwdriver, Phillips screwdriver, a 10mm wrench or socket with ratchet and extension and some painter's tape.

To start out use a flat blade screwdriver, push it up in there, and then pull that out and then down here you go a little further on the bottom and then that pops off. Then the power window switch from under in the front. Then, this slides up and out and then there's a little button right here, that you press with your thumb. Disconnect that, and then there's a little plug here that covers a Phillips screw and for that bolt, use the screwdriver. There's another Phillips screw right under here and you kind of put your screwdriver up in there, feel around a little bit so you can get at it.

Then on the back of the door you have little pins here, push the center in, another one down here, push the center in, and then either using a screwdriver or your fingernails, just pry those out. There are two more of those on the front, one up here and one here. Then probably the best thing is to use a putty knife, stick it in, slide it until you hit something, pull out and there's three clips and then lift your door panel up and off.

To get to your regulator, pull your water shield back carefully and now you can see three bolts that hold on your motor and then one, two, three bolts that hold on the regulator rail. So, I hooked my switch back up and as you can see motor and regular are fine in this car. I'm just doing this video to show you how to do it, but usually what happens is the cable breaks on these and in that case your motor will go up and down, I mean your window will slide up and down with no problem. If your motor breaks what you probably want to do, unfortunately, is cut the cable. You can order a new window regulator and a motor, and if you're going to replace your motor you might was well replace the window regulator, because if your motor is worn out that means your regulator is probably worn in some way as well. If the motor breaks, probably, the easiest way to is to cut the cable, that way you can slide everything up and down and get it out.

Now we're going to remove these two 10mm bolts here. You can just see at the top here, I've got some painter's tape, and once you have those bolts out you just slide your window right up, take your tape and that holds the window up and now you can remove your other six nuts which are for the window motor and the rail.

Before I remove this last nut I'm going to disconnect my window motor by pressing down on a tab here and then pulling the harness apart and then I'm going to pull out, and disconnect your -- just use a screwdriver and pry it right out. So, on the back it has little teeth that you press up to the bottom and down from the top, and they'll pull out. So, now, there's also a little tab right here that holds the cable. Just use the screwdriver, push these little teeth through and now your regulator comes up and out.

Here's our original regulator. Here's the new regulator from 1AAuto, you can see that the rail is all the same. This has got the cab coating on it. The motor is going to bolt in all the same. The plug is the same configuration. It has the pin on it. That'll secure it to the door. The only thing you would need to do, is this little clip here that holds the top, you just kind of separate the top of it and pull it apart and transfer it onto your new one. Since this original regulator is in fine working shape, I'm not one to waste a good part, so I will just show you by reinstalling the original one.

Obviously, the installation is just the reverse, put the regulator motor down in. You may need to push your window out some in order to get the new regulator up and in. I'll just start my middle bolt here, we'll route this, put the motor in place, start one of those bolts, connect the motor and secure it. Now we'll reinstall all the bolts and when you tighten them, you tighten them snug. You don't have to make them extremely tight.

Before you tighten up the rail you want to push this up, and put the pin in place. With the regulator in place, you'll remove the tape, here, and let your window slowly slide down into place and start your two spindle wheel bolts. Again, these are tightened snug; they don't have to be extremely tight. Key turned on, you can just do a quick test to make sure everything is working correctly. Now we can put the door back together.

We are going to speed through putting the door panel back on. If you want to see this in real time just check out our other videos for the door panel removal and installation, but since you took it apart you can probably get it back together easy enough and you might even be able to pick up enough here, hang the door panel back up, put the pins in, replace a couple of screws, hook the switch back up and all that good stuff and then you should be all set and hopefully with a working window.
